Google expands its next-day delivery service to the Rochester area

Google announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its Google Express next-day delivery service to a number of Midwest cities, including Rochester.

The service, first introduced in 2013, allows customers to shop online at national stores, like Costco, Toys R Us and Barnes & Noble, and get delivery the next day.

The Rochester area becomes the only part of Minnesota with Google Express service. Deliveries will be made as far north as Cannon Falls; as far west as Albert Lea; as far south as the Iowa border; and as far east as the Mississippi River (click here for a map).

"Today, we're very excited to be further expanding our efforts -- making it easy for over 50 million people in the Midwest to get things they need from stores they love -- delivered overnight." said Brian Elliott, general manager of Google Express, according to a news release.

Shoppers can sign up for the unlimited delivery membership for $95 a year, or $10 month. Membership includes free delivery on most purchases over $15. Delivery for non-members runs $4.99 per store.
