How do you feel about food trucks? The city wants to know
A new survey on food trucks went live on the City of Rochester's official website Tuesday morning. The results will be used to help city officials reevaluate the current ordinance, which essentially bans trucks from operating on streets or other public property downtown.
Some of the questions on the survey include:
- If food trucks were allowed in downtown Rochester, would you be likely to visit them?
- Do you feel that food trucks should be allowed to operate in residential neighborhoods?
- Do you think the presence of food trucks would enhance or take away from your experience visiting or shopping downtown?
Public concern over the current ordinance first surfaced in June after BB's Pizza was forced out of downtown by the city. By the time BB's and the city reached an agreement to allow the truck to return, a movement to change the rules had already begun.
In July, a food truck summit was held in Rochester to gauge the public's interest in changing the existing policy. A full recap of the event can be found here.
