Rochester high schools raise more than $100K for nonprofits

Rochester's three public high schools combined to raise more than $100K for local nonprofits this holiday season. Students and staff at John Marshall, Mayo and Century all held pep rallies Tuesday to celebrate their fundraising success.

Throughout the month, students played school-wide games of tag and even went caroling, all in the name of charity. Collectively, the three high schools raised $107,146, according to the district.

Here's where that money went:

  • Century: $15K to Special Olympics and $15K to Bear Creek Services
  • John Marshall: $36,905 to Christmas Anonymous
  • Mayo: $40,241 to GOFA project (Give One For All), which benefits Rochester Dorthy Day House and the local women’s shelter
