The word "library" isn't always synonymous with innovation. But then again, things are a bit different at the Rochester Public Library.

This month, the library's popular BookBike was named a recipient of the Local Government Innovation Award by the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

The bike took home first place in the city category (a full list of winners can be found here). The library received a $5,000 grant and a professional video, shown below, as rewards for their innovation.

The BookBike is the first of its kind in Minnesota. During the spring and summer of 2015, the mobile library visited 113 locations and reached 5,696 visitors in central neighborhoods.
