Local nonprofit building a wheelchair accessible playground
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Hiawatha Homes broke ground Wednesday on a new wheelchair-accessible playground at its facility in northwest Rochester.
The $117,000 project is a result of a two-year fundraising campaign. Construction on the playground is expected to be completed sometime this summer.
"Thank you to all donors who have made this possible for the 140 people supported by Hiawatha Homes," the organization wrote on Facebook.
The all-inclusive playground will be specifically designed for children with disabilities. Click here to learn more about Hiawatha Homes.
