Rochester lawmaker calls on the speaker of the Minnesota House to resign
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - A Rochester lawmaker called on the state's top Republican to resign at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
State Rep. Tina Liebling (DFL) said House Speaker Kurt Daudt (R) abused his power in office by rushing through a 90-plus-page jobs and energy bill at the end of the legislative session. Here's a look at the chaos:
"I've seen a lot of chaotic endings, but I've never seen anything of the caliber of what we saw this time," Liebling said, according to report by KAAL-TV. She went on to say: "this speaker has shown an utter disdain for democracy."
Liebling spoke following a joint news conference at the Rochester Public Library by Daudt and state Sen. Carla Nelson (R) of Rochester. Nelson told the Post-Bulletin she was disappointed by the comments.

"It's just highly disappointing to just see highly partisan rhetoric," Nelson said, according to the paper. "It's a disservice, really."
Daudt had strong language of his own for Gov. Mark Dayton, who has said he will veto an education bill recently passed by the Legislature. KTTC-TV reports the house speaker called on Dayton to apologize for saying Republcians "hate the public schools."
