Here are 10 things to do in Rochester this Memorial Day weekend

  • The circus is in town this weekend for a total of seven shows Friday though Sunday at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $16 for adults and $12 for children. Learn more.
  • St. James Coffee will hold its fourth annual BrewHaHa fundraiser Friday night at the International Events Center. The evening includes dinner, auctions, beer tasting and live jazz. Tickets are $40 per person, $75 per couple or $300 for a table of eight. Learn more.
  • It will be a mellow weekend at two of the city's top music venues. The Evergreen Grass Band, a bluegrass group from Eau Claire, will perform Friday night at Kathy's Pub. The Listings, a local folk rock band, is scheduled to play Saturday night at North Star Bar.
  • Wicked Moose wants you to dress up as your favorite celebrity for its costume party on Friday night. The event includes live music and cash prizes for the best costumes and dance moves. Tickets are $15 at the door, or $10 with a costume. Learn more.
  • Minneapolis-based comic Nate Abshire will headline a total of four shows Friday and Saturday at Goonie's Comedy Club. Abshire will be joined by Greg Berman, also of Minneapolis. Tickets are $14 in advance and $20 at the door. Learn more.
  • The third outdoor farmers market of the season will be held Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to noon. In addition to the latest harvest, shoppers can now purchase wood-fired pizza and cold-press coffee. Learn more.
  • Andy's Liquor is hosting its sixth annual Thank a Veteran Celebration at all four of its stores Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food, free tastings and raffle items. All veterans will be provided with free food. Learn more.
  • About 4,000 runners are expected to participate in different events for the 20th annual Med City Marathon. There's a 5K, family run and free expo on Saturday. The half and full marathons begin Sunday morning in Byron and finish at the Mayo Civic Center. Learn more.
 
 
  • The Rochester chapter of the NAACP will celebrate 50 years of striving for social justice with a unity ball Saturday night at the DoubleTree Hotel. The event includes a buffet, program and live dance music. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Learn more.
  • The annual Memorial Day parade will start Monday near the American Legion and Central Park at 9:45 a.m and end at the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial. There are also a number of services at area cemeteries on Monday. Learn more.
