Art Blitz taking over a block of downtown Rochester on Saturday
More than 75 local artists will be featured at the second annual Art Blitz.
The event is happening Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m. in the block surrounding the Creative Salon in downtown Rochester. Performances, both planned and spontaneous, will take place throughout the evening.
New to this year’s celebration are organized youth art activities, which will begin at 3, and more than a dozen vendors selling locally-made crafts.
Several local artists and arts groups have chosen the occasion to celebrate the unveiling of their recent work:
- The newly formed artist cooperative, Gallery 24, will be showcasing work at Cafe Steam during the afternoon
- Local musician Michael Baker will release his debut album
- Rachel Dawson will release her newest book of poetry, entitled A Song of Bravery
Performances will take place at several locations on the block, including The Creative Salon, Cafe Steam, Big Brad’s On Broadway and The Doggery. Artwork will also be on display at Grand Rounds Brewpub and the Reid/Huber/Dunn-Walker Gallery.
