Symphony will begin its 96th season with a new president

The Rochester Symphony Orchestra & Chorale has selected longtime music director Jere Lantz to be its president and CEO.

The symphony made the announcement on Wednesday. Lantz, who has been involved with the organization for more than three decades, will assume the position on Sept. 1.

“I’m ecstatic to be in this role at such a pivotal point in RSOC’s history,” said Lantz. “We need to reestablish our relationships in the community to build greater awareness of RSOC ... we want to become known as the professional music organization of this broad region."

Lantz will take over for former president Jeffrey Amundson, who resigned in April over charges that he financially exploited a vulnerable adult.

Signed, sealed and delivered...he's yours Rochester! RSOC’s Music Director Jere Lantz to assume dual role of President/CEO & Artistic Director. http://bit.ly/1IyJ1YH
