Blades and brews: Forager adds outdoor skating rink for the winter
Come with your blades. Stay for a beer.
Forager Brewery recently completed the installation of an ice rink on its outdoor patio. The surface, which consists of two small "ponds" and a trail connecting them, will be available for use until the weather says otherwise.
"We wanted to focus on embracing our Minnesota winters and why we all have chosen to live here, opposed to staying inside for the winter and waiting for the snow to melt," said Forager co-owner Annie Henderson.
The area is protected on all four sides from the wind, making it a bit warmer than most outdoor rinks. Forager also built a small warming hut for breaks in between skating.
Skates are not provided so you must bring your own (or just wear boots). The rink is open during normal business hours: 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. You are not required to purchase anything to use the rink.
Forager Brewery is a sustaining sponsor of the Med City Beat.
