Destination Medical Center will host a groundbreaking ceremony next week for the first Discovery Square building.
An invite from Mortenson Construction says the event will include a street festival featuring "interactive displays of innovation by local entrepreneurs," plus giveaways and refreshments.
The festival is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A formal presentation will begin immediately after.
The 90,000 square-foot building — to be constructed on the corner of 4th Street SW and 2nd Avenue SW — aims to serve as a catalyst for Discovery Square, a 16-block area that Mayo and local officials want to develop as a life science research campus.
