Does it get any sweeter? A cookie dough truck is coming to downtown Rochester
Rochester's food truck scene is about to get a bit sweeter.
Dough Boys will begin serving up edible cookie dough downtown next week. The business will serve the dough like ice cream, in dishes and cones topped with treats of your choosing.
Owner Cory Scrabeck says he got the idea after seeing similar concepts in New York and California. However, he believes this will be the first mobile cookie dough station in the country.
"I wanted to bring something unique to the area," said Scrabeck. "And who doesn't like cookie dough?"
Dough Boys recently received all the necessary permits and licensing from the city to begin operating downtown. The truck will set up weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. along Second Avenue Southwest. Three other vendors — Back Alley Kitchen, Twisted Barrel Wood Fired Pizza and Catering For All It's Worth — are already using the area for the lunch hour.
Scrabeck's truck will start off with three flavors: chocolate chip, peanut butter, and cookies and cream. Eventually, customers will have the opportunity to create a personalized product.
The dough used will be made fresh each morning, said Scrabeck. And unlike at home, special measures are being taken to ensure customers can safely eat as much cookie dough as they choose.
