Minnesota DFL taps Rochester to host its 2018 state convention
The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor party will hold its 2018 state convention in Rochester, party officials announced Tuesday.
The convention is scheduled for June 1-3, 2018 at the recently-remodeled Mayo Civic Center. DFL delegates will vote to endorse the party's candidates for the next governor and lieutenant governor, as well as secretary of state, state auditor and attorney general.
'The Minnesota DFL has a rich history of investing in our state's future, defending the civil and human rights of all citizens, and constantly working to move our state forward without leaving anyone behind," party leaders said in a statement. "When the DFL convenes in Rochester in June of 2018, we will be making critical endorsements that will directly affect the lives of Minnesota's families."
Two local leaders — U.S. Rep. Tim Walz, of Minnesota's 1st District, and State Rep. Tina Liebling, of Rochester — are among those vying for the DFL's gubernatorial endorsement.
Rochester last hosted the state DFL convention in 2012. The city also played host to the state Republican convention in 2014.
