Rochester theater to offer free screening of 'Purple Rain' on Friday

To mark the one-year anniversary of Prince's death, a Rochester movie theater will offer a free midnight screening of the Minnesota icon's 1984 film Purple Rain.

CineMagic Hollywood 12, 2171 Superior Dr NW, will show the film this Friday at midnight. Seating is first come, first served.

Tributes to the late singer are planned throughout Minnesota over the next couple weeks. The Current has a list of some of the notable events taking place, including a memorial street party scheduled for Saturday, April 22 outside of First Avenue. 

Prince died on April 21 of last year. He was 57.
