Don't be fooled by these stickers. They are white nationalist propaganda.

White nationalist propaganda has made its way into Rochester.

Stickers with messages like "Our Future Belongs to Us" and "Serve Your People" were found posted on street lamps and traffic light boxes downtown Wednesday morning. The stickers use images and text tied to "Identity Evropa," which has been classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

These slogans have been popping up across the country on fliers and stickers since 2016 — and are a symptom of the small, but growing amount of white nationalist activity in the U.S.

It is unclear who is responsible for spreading these materials locally. If you see them posted, you are encouraged to remove them. 

Additionally, two individuals — Chad Allen and Regina Mustafa — are organizing a campaign of their own aimed at countering the racist messaging. They are working with local photographers to produce fliers that embrace Rochester's rich diversity.  

Here's what Mr. Allen told us this evening:

My grandfather fought Nazis in Europe so we wouldn't have to here. Now three generations later we find ourselves in a political climate in which these people are comfortable enough to come out of the shadows. 

Regina Mustafa and I are not okay with that, nor should anyone else be okay. We are countering these stickers with flyers featuring Rochester's diverse citizens accompanied by text in the exact font, reappropriating their design. 

Counter something bad with something good. 

We need all walks of folks to pose for the photos so we can counter with a message that protects the future diversity of Rochester. 

We ask that people interested in posing join us outside Rockchester at Pure Rock Studios if interested in posing. Individual sessions should take no more than five minutes.

We will not tolerate this in our city.
