TEDxZumbroRiver announces 2018 salon series
The local TEDx team is mixing things up this year.
Rather than put on one large conference, like they have the past two years, organizers of TEDxZumbroRiver plan to host a series of smaller events. The salon talks, organizers say, will bring attendees together in more intimate spaces, providing more opportunities for audience interaction.
"The team unanimously agreed that making 2018 the year of salons is something our fan base will really enjoy," said organizer Ben Creo. "They are excited for the possibilities and creativity salons provide through unique venues, audience participation opportunities and topics.”
According to Wednesday's announcement, the TEDx group plans to host another full-blown conference in 2019. Events in 2016 and 2017 each brought in audiences of more than 1,000 attendees. To date, talks hosted here in Rochester have been viewed nearly 500,000 times on YouTube.
The First Salon is scheduled for May 10 inside the Rochester Civic Theatre's Black Box. Only about 100 tickets will be available for the first salon.
Former TEDxZumbroRiver speakers Julie Brock and Becca Stiles-Nogosek are leading the planning of the 2018 salon series.
