Temps could rise 75 degrees by Sunday
This should be our last weather report for a while. No one at Med City Beat pretends to be a meteorologist, but this kind of cold warrants our attention.
As does what is about to happen next — and I think you may find more enjoyment in this forecast: Daytime highs could climb up to the mid 40s by this Sunday. That could mean, as the National Weather Service points out, a roughly 75 degree difference from the lows of -30 Thursday morning.
Temperatures are expected to rise Thursday afternoon and then hover around the 0 degree mark. There is still a possibility for a trace of snow tonight, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast shows Friday with a high of about 20 above. Saturday could get up to 36 degrees.
These past couple of days have been some of the most miserable Minnesota conditions on record. Wednesday morning’s wind chills, as we reported, tied for the second coldest since they began counting such a thing in 1948.
Of course, cold weather like this always starts the ‘so much for global warming’ conversation back up again. However, there is emerging science out there suggesting that this recurring polar vortex could actually be a consequence of climate change.
