Rochester ranked among the nation's best places to retire
Rochester is once again being included in the upper echelon of places to live in the U.S. — with the latest list noting the city’s quality of life for retirees.
For its ‘Best Places to Retire in 2020,’ Forbes touts the Med City’s ‘incredibly high’ ratio of doctors per capita along with a below-the-national-average home prices as rationale for including Rochester on the list.
In all, Forbes featured 25 American cities, with nearby cities such as Fargo, N.D., Souix Falls, S.D. and Des Moines, Iowa also earning high marks.
Forbes says the rankings were developed based on metrics such as availability of medical care, crime levels, and ‘whether a city encourages a healthy and active lifestyle with good air quality.’
While Rochester presumably ranked high in the aforementioned categories, Forbes did not a couple of cons: the cold winters and the fact that Minnesota taxes social security benefits and estates.
