Rochester music promoter requiring proof of vaccination or negative test to attend show

With music beginning to make its way indoors for the fall, one Rochester promoter says it will be requiring proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours to attend a show.

My Town My Music made the announcement on Thursday ahead of its upcoming concert on September 25 featuring singer-songwriter Lissie. The show, to be held at the Castle, will be the group’s first since February 2020.

Organizers said the decision was made following “many long discussions considering the current state of things.” Olmsted County is averaging more than 300 new cases a week, with the vast majority of cases coming from individuals who have not been vaccinated, according to health officials.

“These policies follow what other events and venues are doing and will be enforced to make sure we all can have a safe, enjoyable experience, and continue to have live music in Rochester,” the group wrote on Facebook.

In addition to the vaccine/test requirement, My Town My Music says masking will also be highly recommended while inside the Castle.

Across the state, many venues — including First Avenue and associated venues — have implemented similar protocols, while others — such as the Armory in Minneapolis — have left it to the performers to decide the rules.
