Treedome to open record shop, production studio in downtown Rochester
The duo behind Treedome, a new creative studio and retail shop opening downtown, want to help push Rochester’s music scene to new heights.
Maggie Panetta and Nate Nelson have secured a lease for Treedome at 309 South Broadway, in the former Big Brad’s. The location will sell records, vintage clothing, and skate accessories. The space will also serve as a production studio for the business, as well as an occasional music venue.
Founded five years ago in Winona, Treedome has become best known for its work promoting live shows and producing music videos. It also offers additional event services, and has partnered locally on a number of events, including the Night Market series and concerts at Thesis Beer Project.
Nelson said those partnerships, along with the energy they see building in Rochester’s art scene, were major factors in relocating their business here.
“What Rochester has is momentum, and a bunch of people who are really interested in pushing that momentum forward,” said Nelson.
Panetta, who is from Rochester, said they were also encouraged by what they saw taking shape downtown — with a number of creative businesses now open along the block, some of which they have already worked with.
“Because of all of those people on the block, we felt like we would be a really good fit to collaborate with them and help re-energize this block even further — especially for walking traffic and hosting events,” said Panetta, referencing businesses like Art Heads Emporium and Threshold Arts.
Treedome will host a grand opening at its new spot on Nov. 19.
