More than a dozen Rochester businesses sign on to bike incentive program
A local bike group is peddling a new program that will provide riders with extra incentives to make their next trip on two wheels.
On August 26, We Bike Rochester will launch the Bicycle Benefits program in partnership with at least 17 local businesses. The program is modeled after similar initiatives in other communities, such as Madison, Wis., which now boasts more than 200 participating businesses.
“Over half of all trips in the U.S. are less than 3 miles and this program is aimed at encouraging as many people as possible to opt for biking to destinations instead of driving,” We Bike Rochester wrote in the announcement. “Better for the planet, our community, local businesses, pocketbooks, our health, and so much more fun.”
Participating businesses will offer discounts, deals, and freebies to any rider who shows up with a Bicycle Benefits sticker on their helmet. Riders will be able to purchase stickers from the businesses; they will also be included with the purchase of any helmet from a participating shop.
