2021 Parent and Family Weekend

More than 100 students, parents and families celebrated Parent and Family Weekend at the University of Minnesota Rochester in early October. This event brought families together while providing a sneak peek at the UMR student experience. The weekend included a meet and greet, music from Luke LeBlanc, a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter, a Rochester history tour, trolley rides to Sekapp Orchard, a performance by comedian juggler Marcus Monroe and a question and answer session with Mayo Clinic neurosurgeon, Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa. UMR junior, Alison shared her experience, stating her family and sister picked up delicious apples from Sekapp’s Orchard and enjoyed a break from school in the beautiful fall weather.

On Campus is a paid collaboration between the University of Minnesota Rochester and Med City Beat. Through this series, we strive to connect UMR with the broader community through storytelling; to promote the programs and resources available through UMR; to encourage engagement between current and former students; to keep the public informed of the latest campus news; and to highlight the accomplishments of students and faculty.
