Can the promise of the Chateau be realized?
On this week's edition of the Rochester Rundown, presented by Altra Federal Credit Union, we go through the different options at play for the future of the historic Chateau Theatre. After sitting empty for the majority of the past seven years, the City of Rochester will soon release a request for proposals for organizations that wish to reactivate the 93-year-old facility.
The council has not reached a consensus on exactly what programming will replace Exhibits Development Group — which had its run inside Chateau cut short thanks, in part, to Covid-19 — but two things are certain: they want to find long-term stability inside the Chateau, and they want the new programming to cater to as many residents and visitors as possible.
We hear from council members, Mayor Kim Norton, and the city employee charged with finding the next operator on what to expect and how this historic gem can be revitalized; plus news of the week and events to check out this weekend — all in this week's episode.
