No passport needed: Travel to China at Minnesota Children’s Museum Rochester
Minnesota Children’s Museum Rochester presents Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China. The Museum strives to increase awareness around China at a time when gaining global perspective is essential to building inclusivity and empathy, and a current topic in our community.
Minnesota Children’s Museum Rochester is honored to bring Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China and to partner with the Rochester community to enhance the exhibit through programming and outreach.

“As our Southeastern Minnesota Region, has and, continues to attract and retain diverse talents and families, the Museum is intentional to bring relevant experiences that reflect our community and make it more welcoming," says Heidi Mestad, Director of Minnesota Children’s Museum Rochester.
Mestad adds, "Through immersive exhibits coupled with collaborative programming and storytelling, we are creating the opportunity for such experiences - broadening global perspective, cultural understanding and building empathy in our youth and adults!"

Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China is an exhibition designed to engage children and families in learning about one of the oldest civilizations – and now among the most modern – in the world through some of its young people.
Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China was created by Boston Children’s Museum and is part of the Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series, funded by The Freeman Foundation and administered by Association of Children’s museums. The exhibit will be hosted by Minnesota Children’s Museum of Rochester through January 1, 2017.
Upon taking a tour of the exhibit, Dr. Xiaosheng Wu, one of our community partners, was impressed with the cultural diversity that it brings to Rochester.

“You have the culture, you have the art, you have the day-to-day life,” said Dr. Wu. “It really covered a broad range of how kids are living in China.”
Upcoming programming includes a traditional Chinese watercolor painting demonstration with Yan Li – Friday, November 25, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
