Soaked in the Sun and a Night of Fun | July 21 in Rochester

Our friends over at T.E.A.M. Events have brought together a long list of community partners for the first annual Soaked in the Sun event at the History Center of Olmsted County on Saturday, July 21.

EIGHT HOURS OF FUN

Soaked in the Sun Followed by a Night of Fun is a unique, water-themed event for the entire community. All ages. Kids. Adults. Kids at heart.

The outdoor fun begins at 2 p.m. with Water World, a dedicated area for children with activities for ages 12 months and up. There will be water soakers, inflatables and giant beach balls bouncing around until 7 p.m.

There will also be party games, like bag toss and giant water pong — plus food and drink vendors and DJ Supafly spinning summer tunes all day.

While you are down there, also make sure to check out the History Center's beautiful 54-acre campus. You can learn more about this great community asset on their website.

TOP LOCAL TALENT

The Night of Fun will include one of the regions's top musical acts: JT and the Gunslingers will take the outdoor stage from 8-10 p.m.

There will also be a celebrity dunk tank, plus opportunities to meet a hometown hero — Marcus Sherels of the Minnesota Vikings.

"Our purpose is to highlight our community," says co-organizer Tim Nela, "and with the list of people involved with this event, we are really looking forward to promoting all of the great people and businesses in our community."

WATER BALLOON TOURNEY

Teams of five can register for the "Dodgeball rules" water balloon tournament. There will be a 16-team bracket, with best of 3 rounds per game. Cash prize of $500 given to winning team, $100 given to best dressed team. Kris Loving and his team over at Official Love are going to officiate the competition. The action starts at 4 p.m. (pre-registration required).

T.E.A.M. Events aims to bring fun and innovative events to Rochester. (Left to right: Tim Nela, Ethan Schultz, Chad Curry, Amanda Curry and Mike Vaniperen.)

'Something for everyone'

"This is an event that will have a little of something for everyone," says Nela.

Admission is free for kids under 12. All-day access to the event, including the concert, is early bird priced at $10. Day of event ticket price will be $20, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House.
