Minnesota House approves fix to DMC language
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - The Minnesota House passed a tax conformity bill Thursday that includes a provision to fix a glitch in the Destination Medical Center legislation.

Heather Carlson of the Post-Bulletin reports the bill unanimously passed the House 129-0. The Senate is expected to take up the measure sometime next week. The AP reports Gov. Mark Dayton supports the bill.
Last October, a mistake in the language of the legislation was revealed by the Minnesota Attorney General's office. Under its interpretation of the law, $12 billion dollars of private investment would be required before public funding would kick in. Local legislators, however, insisted the intent of the law was to kick in funding at the $6 billion threshold.
The bill also allows the city of Rochester to include the costs of the DMC development plan as part of its $128 million contribution to the initiative, according to a KIMT-TV report earlier this week.
The DMC Corp. Board will vote on the first full draft of the comprehensive plan during a meeting on Jan. 29. The plan will then open for a 60-day public comment period before heading to City Council.
