Gov. Dayton signs bill containing DMC funding fix into law

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Gov. Mark Dayton has signed into law a tax conformity measure that includes a provision to fix a glitch in the Destination Medical Center legislation.

Brian Bakst of the AP reported late Saturday that the governor had inked his signature on the bill. It recently passed through both chambers of the state Legislature without any opposition.

“[The bill] clarifies the law that will provide state funding for the Destination Medical Center – a project that is vitally important for our state’s economy and quality of life," said Gov. Dayton, according to a news release.

The law also allows the city of Rochester to include the costs of the DMC development plan as part of its $128 million contribution to the initiative.

The DMC Corp. Board will vote on the first full draft of the comprehensive plan during a meeting on Jan. 29. The plan will then open for a 60-day public comment period before heading to City Council.
