Local Muslim leader condemns terror attack in Paris
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - A Muslim organization in Rochester is condemning a terror attack in Paris that left 12 people dead.
"The attack this morning in Paris in no way reflects the teachings of Islam," said Regina Mustafa, founder of the Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam. "These terrorists are thugs and murderers who do not represent the faith I hold so dear."

— NewsHour (@NewsHour) January 7, 2015Three gunmen stormed the offices of a satirical newspaper this morning, killing two police officers and several top journalists. The gunmen escaped in a waiting car, according to witnesses, and are still at large.
French President François Hollande immediately declared that the attack was an act of terrorism and an assault on freedom of the press. The New York Times reports there was no immediate claim of responsibility, but several websites and social media accounts associated with extremist groups said the attack was revenge for the newspaper’s satirical treatment of Islam and its prophet.
One of the attackers could be heard shouting, "we avenged the Prophet Muhammed," in an amateur video shot from a nearby building and broadcast on French television.
"The Qur'an urges patience in the face of ignorance and the Prophet Muhammad never once reacted in anger when he was ridiculed," said Mustafa.
CIDI will hold a discussion on faith tonight at the Rochester Public Library. The event will use a talk show format and stream live on the library's website. Mustafa not only expects, but encourages, people to ask tough questions.
