Mayo Clinic opens new primary care facility in south Rochester

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Mayo Clinic's new primary care facility in south Rochester opened Monday.

The 22,800 square-foot building, located in the Shoppes on Maine development, will house up to 60 employees. The Post-Bulletin notes the clinic includes 30 exam rooms, five consultation rooms and one large procedure room.

The new clinic was announced last summer and completed over the past few weeks. Mayo officials said the decision to build a new facility was, in part, a "response to feedback from our employees and patients" who had requested a primary care center on the southern tip of town.

"This is part of a broader effort to make more Mayo Clinic services, both face-to-face and non-visit care, accessible and convenient to the community," said David Agerter, M.D., medical director, Mayo Clinic Employee and Community Health, according to a July news release

Mayo Clinic will invest $3.5 billion into its downtown Rochester campuses over the next 20 years as part of the Destination Medical Center initiative.
