Rochester airport adds expedited screening for some passengers

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - The Rochester International Airport unveiled a new screening center Thursday designed to expedite travel for pre-approved passengers.

The TSA PreCheck application program allows travelers to leave on their belts, shoes and light jackets as they make their way through security. All other security measures, including the removal of laptops and liquids from bags, are still required.

The application fee for the program is $85. Once approved, passengers can use the PreCheck station for five years at more than 120 airports, including Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport.

Applications can be filled out at the airport Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments can also be made outside those hours by contacting the airport.

More information about eligibility requirements can be found on the TSA website.
