Fire officials say that one cow was lost in the fire. A group of several dozen nearby cattle were temporarily moved out of the area, according to Deputy Fire Chief Vance Swisher.
The fire was still smoldering as of Thursday morning. The inside of the barn, which contained hay bails and some small equipment, is considered a total loss. An estimate on the damage was not immediately available.
Because of the level of heat inside the building, firefighters have not been able to get inside the building. Though an exact cause of the fire has not been determined, investigators do not believe suspicious activity was involved.
More information is expected to be released next Monday.
