GOP candidate Rand Paul making campaign stop in Rochester
Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul will travel to our area next Monday to speak with supporters at the Rochester Eagles Club.
Paul, a 1st-term senator from Kentucky, will "talk policy, take pictures, and discuss how we unleash the American dream," according to his campaign.
The free event is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Earlier in the day, he'll hold rallies at University of Minnesota campuses in Duluth and Minneapolis.
The libertarian-leaning Paul is struggling in the polls, with less than 3 percent support in the critical state of Iowa. His father, Ron, ran unsuccessfully for president in 2008 and 2012.
Paul will be the third presidential candidate to travel to Rochester in the early primary process. Democrat Bernie Sanders spoke here in July; Republican Rick Santorum held a campaign event here in February right before announcing his presidential bid.
