Chart: Is your Internet connection at full strength? (updated)
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - A number of people in Rochester have posted comments on social media in recent weeks stating that their Internet connection had not yet been upgraded by Charter.
But a company spokesperson tells the Med City Beat that all customers in Rochester and the surrounding communities who have Charter Spectrum Internet are at 60 megabytes per second.
"I double checked with our networking folks and Charter is not reporting any issues," said Kimberly Noetzel, a senior manager of communications at Charter.
Noetzel said there could be "in-home factors" affecting a customer's connection. The best way to troubleshoot is to click this link or call 1-888-438-2427.
Charter Communications announced in January that it would increase residential connections in the Rochester area to 60 Mbps, double the previous speed of 30 Mbps. The company said it would automatically reboot every home's modem by Jan. 15.
Is your connection at 60 Mbps?
Note: Data is based on an unofficial poll of residential Internet customers in the Rochester metro area.
