Rochester man pleads guilty to sexually abusing a young child
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child who attended his mother's home-based daycare facility.
KROC-AM reports Joshua Craig, 20, entered a guilty plea last week to first-degree criminal sexual conduct. A second felony charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
The victim first reported the abuse to investigators last April.
According to a criminal complaint, the boy told investigators that Craig would invite him into a room to play video games. Craig would then tell the boy that if he wanted to play, he would first have to perform oral sex.
The victim was about to enter the second grade when the alleged abuse took place.
Craig is now out on bond, says a report by KAAL-TV. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 30.
According to Minnesota law, a person convicted of first-degree sexual assault can be sentenced to a maximum of 30 years in prison.
