Sheriff's office: Man broke into woman's home and sexually assaulted her
A man has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct following an incident over the Fourth of July weekend.
Michael Kahn, 50 of Chester, is accused of breaking into the home of a Stewartville woman, 42, and sexually assaulting her while she was sleeping.
The alleged rape happened in the early hours of July 5 following a party at a neighbor's house, which both Kahn and the victim attended.
Investigators say Kahn was not invited into the home. According to a report from the sheriff's office, the woman woke up to find Kahn naked in her bed.
Both individuals were intoxicated at the time, the report says. Kahn is the father of the neighbor whose home they had been drinking at.
According to investigators, Kahn initially denied having sex with the victim, but later conceded that he wasn't sure and that it "could have happened."
Kahn is already on the sex offender registry for an incident dating back to 2002. Court records show he was convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
