Don't be alarmed: Tornado sirens will be tested twice on Thursday
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Thursday is Tornado Drill Day in Minnesota.
Alerts will go off at 1:45 p.m. and 6:55 p.m. via sirens and radios.
These special drills are designed to allow everyone the opportunity to review and practice their emergency preparedness plans, according to the division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
"The first drill in the afternoon is intended for schools, institutions and businesses, while the second drill in the evening allows families the chance to review their own disaster preparedness," notes its website.

HSEM says all residents should have a to-go kit in case of a flash flood and to have three days of food and water in case the power goes out, or they are trapped in a damaged structure.
Minnesota has held a Severe Weather Awareness Week for more than 20 years. Most local and statewide radio, TV and cable stations will be participating in Thursday's drills.
