Rochesterfest will offer free trolley service at this year's event
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Free trolley rides will be available to people attending this year's Rochesterfest at Soldiers Field Park.
The trolleys will travel between the park and the downtown Marriott Hotel from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. during the week of the event (June 22-26).
The free trolley rides are being made available by a grant from Mayo Clinic, notes a post on the event's Facebook page. The dropping and departing area will be on the south end of the Rochesterfest grounds.
Mayo has also agreed to allow visitors to use three of its parking lots after 5 p.m. during the week and all day on Saturday, June 27. The lots, which will be marked, are located north of Sixth Street SW.
The K-Mart parking lot located across Broadway from Soldiers Field will be available throughout the week. Organizers say a special spot for bicycles will also be set up in the park.
This is the first time the annual event will be held at Soldiers Field. It was forced to move from its previous location in downtown Rochester because of the Mayo Civic Center's $85 million renovation and expansion project.
Vendors will set up on the track area, with a dining canopy in the track's grassy spots and a stage at the track's north end. The baseball and softball diamonds will also be used for activities.
