Expect extra congestion on Highway 63 for the next couple months

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Work began Monday on a $4.1 million repaving project of Highway 63 in south Rochester.

Crews will repave and lengthen some turn lanes on approximately six miles of Highway 63, from Highway 30 west to 28th Street South in Rochester.

Motorists will encounter lane closures during the work day and some short-term ramp closures, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Traffic delays are possible.

Both lanes for northbound traffic will remain open from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and both southbound lanes will remain open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Work is expected to be completed by early July.
