Rochester ranks #1 on Livability's list of the 100 'Best Places to Live'
Move over Madison; Rochester is America's best place to live.
The Med City finished first in Livability's third-annual 'Top 100 Best Places to Live' rankings. The site analyzes more than 2,000 small to mid-sized cities on factors such as education, transportation and housing to find the "most livable" communities in America.
"Rochester’s rise to the top of our Best Places index has been steady but not surprising," the website says. Rochester finished 7th in 2014 and 2nd in 2015.
Livability's editors say new scores for schools, civic engagement, health care and affordable housing helped push Rochester to the top spot.
They also note the city's "economic boom that is bringing in thousands of new residents and new businesses, and giving those who live here an expanding assortment of entertainment options."
Bellevue, Wash. finished second on the list, followed by Madison, Santa Barbara, Calif. and Boulder, Colo.
