Report: Rochester one of the 10 best cities in America to raise children
The Rochester metro is among the 10 best places in the U.S. to raise kids in 2016.
SmartAsset recently released its second-annual rankings of the best places for children in the Unites States. Rochester landed in sixth on the list, trailing Cedar Rapids, Sioux Falls, Lincoln, Des Moines and Omaha.
The study analyzed the 200 largest metropolitan areas in the United States using 13 factors including water quality, air quality, school graduation rates, median home values and child poverty rates. Eight of the top 10 cities for children are located in the Midwest.
Researchers praised the abundance of parks and ability for upward mobility in Rochester. Previous studies have also ranked the public school district one of the best systems of its size in Minnesota.
