Music to zoning — City of Rochester has several open board positions

Music to zoning — City of Rochester has several open board positions

Mayor Ardell Brede's office has put out a call for Rochester residents interested in filling multiple open positions on citizen oversight committees:

Here's the list:

  • Music Board
  • Committee on Urban Design & Environment (CUDE)
  • Mayo Civic Center Commission
  • Planning and Zoning Commission
  • Rochester Public Utilities Board
  • Zoning Board of Appeals

The mayor is responsible for interviewing candidates and submitting his choices to the city council. Each board/committee meets about once a month and is responsible for making recommendations to city staff and the council.

The positions are volunteer based and offer no compensation. However, they do provide community members a hands-on experience in city government.

Applications for the above positions are due by Nov. 13. Citizens who do not have internet access may apply at the Rochester Public Library.
