Preservation to parks — City of Rochester has several open board positions
Mayor Ardell Brede's office has put out a call for Rochester residents interested in filling multiple open positions on citizen oversight committees.
Here's the list:
- Urban Design and Environment (CUDE)
- Fire Civil Service Commission
- Heritage Preservation Commission
- Park Board (must reside in Third Ward)
- Police Civil Service Commission
The mayor is responsible for interviewing candidates and submitting his choices to the city council. Each board/committee meets about once a month and is responsible for making recommendations to city staff and the council.
The positions are volunteer based and offer no compensation. However, they do provide community members a hands-on experience in city government.
You can follow this link to apply for a city board/commission/committee or to sign up to be notified when board openings occur.
Applications for the above positions are due by Jan. 31. Citizens who do not have internet access may apply at the Rochester Public Library.
