United Airlines to add daily service from Rochester to Chicago's O'Hare
United Airlines announced Monday the launch of daily nonstop flights from Rochester to Chicago.
Beginning June 8, United will offer three daily flights from Rochester International Airport to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The addition of United will connect local passengers to 41 one-stop cities not currently served through O'Hare, including destinations in Asian, Latin America and Europe.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome United Airlines to Rochester," John Reed, executive director of RST, said in a news release. "The addition of this service will provide 150 new departing seats per day, which is a capacity increase of 35% for our community."
John Wald, medical director of public affairs for Mayo Clinic, called the addition of United an "exciting announcement" that will make Rochester more convenient for patients and travelers.
"We are pleased United Airlines has placed confidence in Rochester as a destination and we look forward to these additional options for our patients," Wald said in a statement.
RST already has service to Chicago through American Airlines. Additionally, Delta provides daily connections to Atlanta and Chicago. The airport serves about 240,000 passengers per year.
