C-SPAN filming in Rochester
Rochester is getting another close-up for national TV.
Producers from C-SPAN will be in Rochester this week visiting prominent sites in town and interviewing local historians, authors and civic leaders.
The segment on Rochester — which will air April 20-21 — is part of C-SPAN’s Cities Tour. On the first and third weekend of the month, the network features the literary life and history of a select city.
The network will no doubt focus its lens on the history and contributions of Mayo Clinic. In promoting the special on Twitter, producers noted that they had already interviewed University of Minnesota Rochester professor Virginia Wright-Peterson about her book, The Women of the Mayo Clinic.
This, of course, is not the first time that Rochester’s story is being shared with a nationwide audience. Last September, filmmaker Ken Burns released a two-hour documentary on the history of Mayo.
When to watch
Rochester will be featured on:
Saturday, April 20 — Book TV on C-SPAN2 at 11 a.m. CT
Sunday, April 21 — American History TV on C-SPAN3 at 1 p.m. CT
