Charter looking to fill 100 jobs in Rochester

Charter looking to fill 100 jobs in Rochester

Despite financial challenges brought on by Covid-19, some sectors of the economy, including shipping, grocery and online learning software, are seeing their demand — and need for new employees — continue to increase.

As you might expect, another industry experiencing a spike as Americans stay in their homes is broadband and television. On Thursday, Charter Communications announced it is looking to hire 100 employees in the Rochester market to fill positions in customer service and business sales.

That is in addition to the more than 3,000 employees Charter says it has hired across its 41-state region since mid-March.

Since that time, the company has switched to conducting nearly all interviews via video call. The shift, the company says, allows it to “continue to grow and invest in its workforce while adopting the CDC-recommended social distancing guidelines.”

Last month, Charter announced it would be retaining its workforce in full for at least the next 60 days. The company also pledged to raise its minimum wage to $20 an hour over the next two years for all hourly employees.
