Wojcik to seek re-election in Ward 2
Ward 2 representative Michael Wojcik announced Tuesday he will seek a fourth term as member of the Rochester City Council.
Wojcik filed for the Ward 2 seat just ahead of Tuesday’s 5 p.m. deadline.
In a statement, Wojcik said he feels tired and beaten up, but still compelled to continue serving Rochester as the city seeks to not only recover from current challenges, “but do better for more people in the years ahead.”
“The roles that we fill as elected leaders fill are not just about governance but about encouraging community and being accessible to those in need,” said Wojcik. “Through the darkest times we must keep an eye to the horizon and ensure our preparedness for opportunities ahead.”
Wojcik cited housing affordability, transit, “smart growth” and equity as issues he would continue working at, if re-elected.
“My kids must be safe and have opportunity,” he said. “Your’s must as well.”
Wojcik is being challenged by three other candidates for the Ward 2 seat: Mark Bransford, Denise Welte and Steve Barlow. A primary will be held August 11. A full list of candidates for city office can be found here.
