Rochester Public Transit reintroduces four bus routes
Rochester Public Transit reintroduced four routes that had been suspended due to Covid-19 — bringing the bus provider closer to full service.
The following changes took effect on Monday:
Route 217 replaces Route 17 and serves southeast Rochester on weekdays.
Route 418 is a weekday route in northwest Rochester and replaces Route 18.
Route 505 is a shopper route that circulates in north Rochester on Tuesdays.
Route 506 is a shopper route that circulates in south Rochester on Fridays.
“Each month we see more and more of our customers returning to transit,” said Rochester Public Transit manager Ia Xiong. “It is a trend we would like to see continue, and bringing back these routes supports that goal.”
North Broadway work moves south
Also on Monday, crews began moving southward on the North Broadway reconstruction project. Impacts include:
North Broadway Avenue will be completely closed to all vehicle traffic from 7 Street to 13 Street until late August 2021. The 7 Street intersection will remain open for eastbound, westbound and southbound travel.
Local traffic and business access for North Broadway will utilize side streets (5 Street North to 13 1/2 Street North) and the mid-block alleys east and west of North Broadway.
Meanwhile, some exiting impacts will also remain in place:
North Broadway Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Civic Center Drive and Silver Lake Drive NE until November 2021.
Through traffic will detour via Silver Lake Drive NE.
