RPS Board to interview interim superintendent finalists in live-streamed meeting
The Rochester School Board is set to interview the three finalists for the interim superintendent position on Tuesday.
The public can watch the interviews beginning at 4 p.m. on the district’s YouTube channel. The finalists were selected from a pool of 11 applicants based on hiring criteria established by the School Board.
The three remaining candidates are:
Dr. Christina Bemboom, Senior Director of Student Support Services, Eden Prairie Schools, MN
Dr. Kent Pekel, President and CEO, Search Institute, MN
Dr. John Thein, Director of Finance, Stillwater Area Public Schools, MN
After interviewing the finalists, the School Board is expected to choose which of the candidates to move forward with by May 13 — with hopes of finalizing the new superintendent’s contract on May 18.
The interim replacement for Supt. Michael Muñoz — whose resignation stemming from plagiarism charges takes effect June 30 — will be on contract through the 2021-22 school year. During that time, the board will begin a search for a long-term successor. According to the board, whoever takes the interim position will be able to apply for the permanent position.
