Olmsted County tops 300 Covid cases for third straight week
Olmsted County continues to see high rates of Covid-19 transmission.
For the third consecutive week, the county recorded more than 300 new cases of Covid, with the most recent seven-day total sitting at 373 cases.
Those numbers are the highest they have been since mid-January.
Hospitalizations also remain steady. As of Monday, there were 43 new Covid-related admissions over the previous seven-day period. About 10 percent of ICU beds in the county are being used by Covid patients.
As a result of this recent uptick, local and state health officials are recommending that individuals wear face coverings in indoor public settings as well as crowded outdoor environments.
Medical experts also advise that individuals 12+ get a Covid-19 vaccine. Doing so not only helps against infection, but can also limit the severity of the disease if contracted. According to the latest data from the CDC, about 3 in 4 eligible residents in Olmsted County have been vaccinated.
