Wehrenberg Theatres, with a location at the Shoppes on Maine plaza in south Rochester, has decided to show the movie at its locations across the country on Thursday. The Rochester theater is among just a handful in Minnesota that will show the film.
Showtimes are at 6 and 9:30 p.m. in Rochester.
Sony Films announced plans Tuesday to show the film on Christmas Day in select theaters across the country. The company had previously canceled the movie's entire release in the wake of threats made by North Korean hackers.
The comedy, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, centers around a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The dictator has blasted the film as an "act of war."
President Obama, who criticized Sony's original plans to scrap the film, applauded the studio's reversal.
"As the president made clear, we are a country that believes in free speech, and the right of artistic expression," said his spokesman, Eric Schultz, according to a BBC News report. "The decision made by Sony and participating theaters allows people to make their own choices about the film, and we welcome that outcome."
The film can also be streamed on YouTube, Google Play or Xbox.
